Leo was a member of Co. F, 108th Inf. for three years prior to his enlistment in the Army Air Corp on 1 Aug. 1939. He was captured while serving under Gen. Jonathan Wainwright in the Philippines. He died as a POW in a Japanese prison camp 28 May 1942.
The Purple Heart and a Presidential Citation were awarded to him posthumously.
