The Company F Memorial Committee and family members visited the University of Buffalo Foundry on July 5th to view the progress of the casting process. The major components of the Company F statue have been cast in bronze. Each weighing in between 100 and 300 pounds. The smaller components such as the hands and rifle are to be cast next. The components will be sandblasted to remove the mold residue, assembled, spot welded and then seam welded. The final process is adding the patina before shipping to Medina for installing. Foundry Director Chris Siano and Sculptor Brian Porter are aiming for a completion date before Veterans Day in November.
